National Project - Valuebill

Valuebill enables the electronic exchange of data between local authority billing agencies, the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), and the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) – improving valuation services for citizens and businesses and providing benefits to all aspects of customer-facing work for which accurate property information is crucial. It is also assisting the integration of billing authorities and VOA into the wider land-related initiatives in local and central government such as the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG), the National Land Information Service (NLIS) and the Planning Portal. In all of these Valuebill is enabling greater efficiency and effectiveness by ensuring that property data meets the requirements of Revenues departments.

According to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), local authorities in England missed out on £825m in the 2001/2 tax year through under-collection of taxes. This amounted to 4% of council taxes and 2% of non-domestic rates. Whilst most t-government projects aim to help councils improve how they spend their money, Valuebill project aims to improve the way they gather it.

CAPS Solutions has an active engagement with the Valuebill project and is working towards providing a solution that will help customers integrate corporate land and property information into local authority revenue systems.
